This is a beautiful Chantilly ball gown that is one of Vera Wang’s most unique creations. It is both high fashion and romantic. The gown was originally designed as a high-low dress, but I worked with her designers and customized it to be floor length all around to give a more elegant, black-tie look.
The dress has a hand-appliqué Chantilly lace bodice and skirt accented by ruched tulle details and silk organza crescent technique. It has four different kinds of lace throughout. There are scattered bits of lace that cascade from the bodice throughout the skirt, and the skirt has ruched and shirred tulle. The bodice has Chantilly lace as a base with corded lace appliqué on top of that. Two additional types of lace, rose and chrysanthemum, shoot off from the bodice and float down the skirt, almost creating a peplum effect. Then you have hints of crescent embroidery popping out, starting at the top of the skirt. Made of hex tulle, which is a little more substantial and crisp than regular tulle, it gives the dress a lot more volume and flare. There is flower lace detail on the train of the dress is absolutely breathtaking, and created a wow effect while walking down the aisle. It is truly a dream dress.
